For the past 85 years the Northern Tier Children’s Home has provided a “Home Between Homes” for children who have experienced insecurity due to failure, abuse, and lack of love. The Northern Tier Children’s Home is a non-profit corporation which has benefited over the years by donations of food, labor and expertise by friends and neighbors. Their outstanding cooperation and generosity over the years has greatly added to the strength of the Home. It has been said that the Northern Tier Children’s Home was started with “two children, a bushel of potatoes and a lot of prayer.” The Home is surrounded by Potter County hills and has an ample lawn and complete recreational facilities which include a gymnasium, tennis court, playground, ropes course and climbing wall. The children have access to a nearby swimming pool and there is a library on the grounds. Over the years the Northern Tier Children’s Home has truly been a haven where needy children could receive physical, emotional and spiritual care. A board of directors oversees and manages the running of the Home and finds sources of income. |
